FISHERMEN FOR THE HUNGRY

The first combination BASS, CATFISH, and PAN FISH tournament turned out to be a great success for all that were involved. We had 25 teams competing for a guaranteed $500.00 FIRST PLACE in each of the three divisions for total prize money of $1,500.00

Jim King and Mike Brumbelow had the Largest Bass for the day tipping the scales at a gigantic 9.26 lbs.

Jim Pope and James Cox took the Largest Catfish prize with 10.80 lbs.

Heath and Kristy Collier had the Ten Largest Pan Fish totaling 11.00 lbs.

We had 34 volunteers that we know of and an estimated 20 more that aided in some form or fashion along with seven great organizations that made this great event possible.

Feeding The Valley Food Bank out of Columbus, Ga. and its crew made the Food Distribution possible by delivering and helping to distribute an estimated 47,500 lbs of Canned, Shelf Stable, Fresh, and Frozen Food items.  Each family that participated received approximately 100 lbs of top quality food items and at last count we had served an estimated 475 families.

The Fishermen for the Hungry worked the tournament and also helped organize and distribute the food. For this particular tournament all the fish were donated to the same families and the estimated weight of all the fish came to 200 lbs.

The Bethel Baptist Association, Ft. Gaines Baptist Church, the Men of Clay, Clay Hill Christian Retreat Center and Clay Family Services all helped with the food distribution, the marketing, and spreading of the word about the tournament and food drop.

The Fishermen for the Hungry goes in hole dollar wise on events like the one today but we’re all about FEEDING THE NEEDY and the larger picture of where and how we can do the most good for the most people in need.  We will be looking at many more of these events and we sincerely hope that all our fishermen will continue to support us in our regular tournaments along with our combination tournaments. This is a fun and exciting way for each of you to give back what we are so truly blessed with.
