Lake Blackshear continues to be a good “BAD WEATHER” lake with 124 fish being caught for a total of 300.46 lbs today.  Wind, rain, hale, and lighting did not keep our 33 teams from competing for our worthy cause of Feeding The Hungry.  As it turned out, the most severe weather went north of us and our weigh –in went very well with little or no wind at all.

Mike Bullington and Joe Bruton took First Place with 22.02 lbs by fishing plastic worms, buzz baits, and crank baits in 2.5 foot of water all day long. They netted a total of 15 fish during the day and their efforts were rewarded with a $1,320.00 check.

Jimmy Troxell and Edwin Oliver made a very strong Second Place finish with 18.24 lbs.  Their “KICKER”, being the BIG FISH for the day, tipped the scales at an amazing 7.74 lbs. Jimmy fished crank baits hard during the day and Edwin followed through with spinner baits giving each spot a double look at inviting prey.  Their efforts earned the pair checks for $660.00, $300.00, and two $50.00 Gift Certificates from BIG BEAR RODS who sponsors our BIG FISH at each event for the series.

We weigh to the 100th of a pound, with state of the art scales furnished by ALBANY SCALES, and at times we do have ties that affect the earnings for our winners.  Our “TIE BREAKER” is determined by the lowest boat number so it is always best to ENTER EARLY, just in case.  Our Third Place and Fourth Place teams had an exact weights today of 14.50 lbs with Dwayne Smith and Mark Goodin receiving the advantage due to the fact they were boat # 3 and Michael Padgett and Scott Holland being boat # 7. Dwayne and Mark fished top water lures all day and earned a $330.00 check while Michael and Scott fished plastic all day earning a check for $300.00

Gerald Zorn and Bo Carver earned a Fifth Place check worth $275.00 and Bobby Joe Underwood and Teresa Adams took Sixth Place and a check for $250.00

Wannie Brookard won our HOME DEPOT grill raffle valued at $150.00 and Michael Padgett won our FREE ENTRY raffle valued at $160.00
